Advertising Consultant to the top Technology, Alternative Energy and B2B clients for Google Australia. Handle a portfolio of ~$45 Million a year. Work with clients like Bose, Origin Energy, Deloitte, Cisco, EnergyWatch, National Solar Group and Servcorp.

Responsibilities

  • Consultant to Australia’s top clients in the Technology and the Business Industrial Markets space through phone calls/VCs to provide advice and strategic solutions to achieve their advertising objective. Search, Display, Mobile, Admob, as well as YouTube are some of the platforms used.
  • Work with client, their Media/Search/Design Agencies to help launch campaigns across various media.
  • Delegate pre-sales and post-sales activity to the Account Planners and the Account Strategists of the pod. Co-ordinate with them to make sure tasks get implemented on time and maintain high quality.
  • Work with the Business Analyst team to arrive at projections and targets for each quarter, with the help of YoY and QoQ projections. This is product wise (Search, Display, Mobile, YT) as well as customer wise. Also using that data to find trends to pitch more effectively to clients.
  • Use industry research to predict the performance of sub-verticals quarter on quarter for target setting.
  • Identify and highlight seasonality trends like Christmas, solar rebates, effects of the tax season on the printing supplies industry etc. using SQM tools (internal and Hitwise), and market data to pitch seasonal campaigns to clients.
  • Identify new players in the industry and convert them into hot leads for the acquisition team in Sydney.
  • Identify and mentor Account Planners and Account Strategists for the Account Management roles.
  • Knowledge sharing with other verticals by using Sales Jam to highlight success stories as well as challenges. 

Roles At Google

  • Account Manager for Technology and Business Industrial Markets-Australia (Current Role): This is a remote sales role managing a portfolio of top tier Australian advertisers for Google in the Technology and BIM markets. Manage a portfolio of ~$45 million per annum. Have worked in this role for more than a year now.
  • Account Strategist for Technology and Business Industrial Markets-Australia: This role involved pre-sales and post-sales activity such as account planning, creating decks, using SQM tools, optimizing and reporting. Worked in this role for 6 months.
  • SOS Lead for the Expedited Queues: In-charge of handling workflow for all approval issues for as Global Media Sales, India DSO, US DCS, as well as SEA DCS. Worked in this role for 9 months.
  • Expedited Queues: Moved to a 100% Expedited Role handling approval issues for Direct clients such as GMS, India DSO, and DCS. Did this role for 4 months.
  • Trained and worked in the Approval bin for 6 months.

Achievements At Google

  • Closely worked with clients such as Deloitte Australia, Adobe, ServCorp, Origin Energy, Milan Direct, and a whole set of clients from the web design, printing supplies, office furniture and alternative energy clients to manage their Adwords accounts. Handle a total portfolio size of ~$45 Million a year.
  • Achieved targets (more than 100%) every quarter as an Account Manager.
  • Won the Platinum award (OSO Recognition Award) for reporting and doing damage control for the TimeBomb bug (P0 Bug). On 19 May, one of the worst bugs in Approval Bin history was detected–and fixed. This P0 bug caused 89000 ad approval decisions of NFS or Porn in AB2 to be registered & instead served as FS for 5 days. This issue- which had the potential to severely damage Google’s image & negatively impact our relationship with thousands of publishers-was fortunately caught & defused without any spike in complaints. The fix involved teams across continents, and is a good example of teamwork and resolution under high pressure.  Potentially saved the company $25 Million worth of publishers.
  • Won the APAC Impact Award for Q2, 2011 for Top Revenue Delivery, and pitching and winning Australia DCS’s largest Youtube Homepage buy and concept creation.
  • Moved Bose’s Australia investment from ~$200k/year to ~$1.2Million/year in a quarter.
  • Won a Gold award (OSO Recognition Award) for core job excellence. Had the highest productivity and quality on the floor. Had a 7 times the office average.
  • Won another Gold award (OSO Recognition Award) for achievements in revenue-delivery, teamwork and innovation.
  • Created reporting for expedited queues through ABI for workflow purposes to track incoming volume and individual productivity.
